Mexico City — On December 19, 2025, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) announced that it will execute the collection of 51 billion pesos from Grupo Salinas in January 2026. The amount corresponds to tax debts that the company had not settled and which, after a series of judicial rulings, have reached their final phase of compliance.

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) ratified previous sentences, dismissing legal appeals presented by the business group, which has allowed the tax authority to proceed with collection.

This process occurs within a context in which the Fiscal Prosecutor’s Office and the tax authority are intensifying actions to guarantee the recovery of pending resources, strengthening compliance with tax obligations in the country. The determination also reflects a trend toward the definitive resolution of large-scale tax litigation, which contributes to increasing the Mexican State’s income and strengthening the legal framework in fiscal matters.

The importance of this case lies in its potential impact on the relationship between the private sector and the State, as well as the signal it sends to other taxpayers about the firmness in the application of tax laws. The management of these credits could establish precedents in the resolution of complex tax conflicts, promoting greater transparency and voluntary compliance.

In a broader context, this process coincides with international attention to the economic movements of Mexican business figures in the United States, particularly at a time when their tax obligations in Mexico remain ongoing. The case reflects a commitment by the Mexican government to consolidate the credibility of its tax system and guarantee the effective recovery of public resources.
