Residents of a disputed territory in the Aldea Zama region initiated a blockade on the Playa del Carmen-Tulum section of Federal Highway 307. This action followed an eviction operation led by agents from the State Attorney General's Office.

Initial reports suggest the blockade began around midday in the Aldea Zama neighborhood, in an area known as the irregular colony 'Tren Maya’.

Following the eviction, several individuals, many of whom were masked, blocked the road with burning tires.

At the onset of the blockade, some protestors clashed with members of the Municipal Police who were attempting to prevent the blockade. However, the police officers eventually withdrew and maintained a safe distance from the protestors.

In a brief statement, Bernabé Pech Ramírez, Secretary General of the Tulum City Council, confirmed that the demonstration was a response to an eviction executed by military units under the direction of agents from the Prosecutor's Office.

He also urged drivers to remain patient while authorities engage in dialogue with the protestors to clear the area.

The protestors have made it clear that they will not end the blockade until authorities permit them to return to their homes, from which they were evicted by military units. They have called for the Governor's intervention to resolve the situation.
