Mérida, Yucatán — Businesswoman Ana Cristina Correa Cervera, granddaughter of former mayor Víctor Manuel Correa Rachó, is facing a crisis due to an alleged real estate fraud through the firm FORET, which is reported to have affected approximately 8,000 investors who purchased lots along the Yobaín–Chabihau highway.
The affected parties report that they bought lots in the residential zone "Sayab," but FORET has not delivered the land, which remains in a rustic state without segmentation or access roads.
Investors are placing direct responsibility on Correa Cervera, the director of Grupo FORET, who has not provided explanations for the delay or the lack of progress in the delivery of the properties. Furthermore, they accuse her of deleting negative comments on her social media and allege that when they went to the company's offices, employees stated that she no longer appears there.
The corresponding complaints for property damage have been filed, while the promotional website for the lots, www.kaktun.mx, has been shut down.
One week prior to these events, Ana Cristina Correa Cervera inaugurated the luxurious Borina hotel, which is also part of Grupo FORET's projects in downtown Mérida.
The situation has drawn the attention of national media, such as El Universal, which published an article titled, "Denuncian presunto fraude inmobiliario en Yucatán a través de la empresa Foret" on October 14, 2025.
Meanwhile, the businesswoman has been featured in reports by Líderes Mexicanos and Diario de Yucatán, which highlight her leadership and projects, although specialists indicate that these publications could be part of a strategy for crisis management and containment to minimize damage to her image.
Communication experts explain that this type of strategy seeks to manage critical situations, restore normality, and protect reputation, and often includes actions such as paid advertising, favorable interviews, and social media control.
The case of Grupo FORET highlights the tension between investment promises and actual fulfillment, while the affected parties seek justice and the recovery of their assets.
