Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Tourism officials in Quintana Roo will visit the destinations of Tulum, Mahahual, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Cozumel this week to analyze and improve the visitor experience, particularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, the state’s tourism secretary, announced that authorities will tour tourist spots in the central and southern parts of the state to evaluate their condition and allocate resources for projects that strengthen tourism infrastructure.

“We will be conducting an analysis of the necessary measures to improve the experience in each destination, as well as investments at the airport,” Cueto Riestra said. “We are channeling state government resources to bolster tourism infrastructure.”

Although he did not disclose the investment amount, the secretary emphasized that the priority is to identify the specific needs of each destination, which will then guide the actions to be implemented.

Cueto Riestra noted that to enhance visitor arrivals, Cancún International Airport already has 20 e-gates in Terminal 3 and 20 more in Terminal 4. These new gates incorporate biometric technology aimed at speeding up tourist entry.

Additionally, the tourism secretary previewed that the start of the year’s second quarter will feature various tourism promotion activities, including participation in international fairs such as the International Cruise Fair and World Travel Market Latin America 2026.
