Cancún — The Government of the State of Quintana Roo is preparing for the 2026 vehicle replating process, which will begin next January. The Quintana Roo State Tax Administration Secretariat (Satqroo) is urging taxpayers to bring their payments up to date before December 31 in order to access the benefits and subsidies planned for the first months of the year.
The head of the SATQ, Héctor Contreras, reminded the public that a 40 percent discount on the payment of vehicle ownership taxes remains in effect until December 31. This is part of the incentives promoted by the state government to support family economies.
“We are closing the year with a very positive collection, reaching 77 percent of the goals, and we are confident we will close the fiscal year meeting the objectives set by the administration of Governor Mara Lezama,” he highlighted.
He recalled that those who are up to date with their payments will be able to access a 100 percent subsidy on the vehicle tax during January, February, and March of 2026, at the time of the license plate change.
Regarding the cost of the new license plates, the official explained that the amount will be announced in the coming days, once the state fiscal package is approved.
He detailed that the state vehicle registry is currently 85 percent updated, following the purging of records that had remained inactive from previous administrations.
Furthermore, he invited those who already reside in Quintana Roo but still maintain license plates from other states to update their tax address to access the benefits of the program and contribute to the strengthening of local tax collection.
In response to rumors spread on social media about supposed vehicle verification centers linked to the replating, he clarified that no such project exists. He therefore asked the public to inform themselves only through official channels.
