Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced the creation of a photographic catalog to identify pets affected by the company Xibalbá, whose owners have been formally charged with fraud and animal abuse for offering cremation services they never performed.

The announcement was made during the broadcast of the program "La Voz del Pueblo."

"There will be no impunity. It is clear that playing with the pain of families and their love for their animals is unforgivable," stated Mara Lezama, informing that this catalog is available at the Office of the Attorney for Environmental Protection (Procuraduría de Protección al Ambiente, PPA) for anyone who wishes to identify their pet, with a deadline set for next Tuesday.

Case Details and Official Response

Mara Lezama explained that after receiving the first complaints from people who had gone to cremate their pets and never received the corresponding ashes, the case grew to include 257 formal complaints. Authorities located 135 bodies, mostly of dogs and cats. Currently, two individuals are detained and have been formally charged for their probable responsibility.

She added that, as part of the follow-up to the case, the State Government, through the PPA, compiled a compendium of over 700 photographs of the located bodies, available for public consultation. To date, 18 people have successfully recognized and recovered the remains of their pets, while another 40 have come to review the material.

The catalog can be consulted directly at the PPA facilities, located in the Arboledas neighborhood on Úrsulo Galván street with Chechén, before next Tuesday. On that date, the incineration of the unclaimed bodies will proceed.

The governor highlighted the collaboration of the State Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Livestock (Comité Estatal para el Fomento y Protección Pecuaria), where the incineration will be carried out with appropriate equipment.

Commitment Against Animal Abuse

Mara Lezama thanked the support of civil associations and rescuers, such as Cachorrilandia, for their commitment to animal protection. The group also recently intervened in a case of a man who abused a dog in a public space.

"In Quintana Roo, there will be no impunity for animal abuse. Every complaint counts, and every life deserves respect," she emphasized.

Call to Action on International Day Against Violence and Bullying

In another part of the program, Governor Mara Lezama urged the people of Quintana Roo, on the International Day Against Violence and Bullying at School, to speak up and not remain silent if they are victims of this type of aggression.

She invited parents to be closer to their children, to listen to them, and to help them detect any symptoms of violence or bullying.

"This humanist government with a feminist heart has made bullying and aggression visible in order to combat them. That is why values are important," she stated.

On this topic, Mara Lezama expressed solidarity with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who was a victim of this type of aggression. She also highlighted the action of Miss Mexico Universe, Fátima Bosch, who suffered mistreatment in Thailand.

Other Announcements

Another topic highlighted by the governor on "La Voz del Pueblo" was her condemnation of the murder of Carlos Manzo, the municipal president of Uruapan.

She also informed that completely free pterygium surgeries will resume next Monday in Othón P. Blanco and in Isla Mujeres. A total of 450 surgeries are scheduled from November 10 to 13.
