Progreso, Yucatán — Tens of thousands of visitors packed the coastal city of Progreso on Tuesday for the Battle of Flowers parade, marking a vibrant conclusion to the 2026 Carnival celebrations and delivering a significant economic boost to local businesses.
From early morning, crowds began arriving at the port, creating heavy traffic on public transportation and long vehicle lines at city entrances. The influx peaked around midday before gradually subsiding.
The traditional waterfront promenade was completely filled, approaching attendance numbers from last year’s Carnival season. Families and groups of friends enjoyed the sea, local cuisine, and various products offered by vendors before gathering along the waterfront avenue around noon for the start of the Carnival parade activities.
The parade was led by the Youth Kings accompanied by their royal court. After an initial procession on their floats, they descended during the second round to perform parts of their choreographies, energizing attendees with their enthusiasm.
One of the most applauded moments featured artists Kimberly Flores and José Ron, who greeted the crowd from their vehicles, threw gifts, and interacted with the public, raising spirits at the Progreso Carnival 2026.
Following the parade, attendees remained at the traditional and international waterfront areas where various musical performances maintained the festive atmosphere throughout the afternoon, setting the stage for the anticipated Ha*Ash concert that drew thousands to the waterfront.
Police officers coordinated vehicle circulation to reduce traffic jams and prevent accidents, though the magnitude of attendance caused long lines in the city center and at main entrances and exits during peak hours.
Businesses reported exceptional sales. Restaurants, beverage outlets, and various commercial establishments operated at full capacity, reflecting the positive impact of tourism on the local economy.
