The Civil Protection Department in Playa del Carmen has announced plans to expand its fleet of ambulances. The move is aimed at improving pre-hospital care and providing a high-quality, free service to the local community.
Darwin Covarrubias, the head of the department, noted that the current demand for services has surpassed the department's capacity. This has made the acquisition of additional ambulances a pressing need. While the exact number of ambulances to be purchased has not been specified, Covarrubias assured that the move is intended to strengthen coverage across the entire municipality.
"We are going to improve the response capacity with the acquisition of new ambulances and the hiring of 19 more certified paramedics, who are already part of the department," Covarrubias said.
In addition to the new vehicles, the department has confirmed the hiring of 19 new certified paramedics. These additional personnel will help to provide more efficient care in emergency situations.
Currently, the Civil Protection Department operates three ambulances: two in Playa del Carmen and one in Puerto Aventuras. However, the Puerto Aventuras ambulance is currently out of service due to an accident.
Covarrubias reiterated the department's commitment to enhancing emergency services. The goal is to ensure a swift and effective response to any incident in the Solidaridad municipality.
