PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX — With the objective of strengthening the promotion of Playa del Carmen in key national and international markets, the municipal government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, carried out the "Let's Focus Networking" meeting through the Secretariat of Tourism. The strategic platform brought together representatives from the tourism, business, and academic sectors to drive innovation and competitiveness for the destination.

Presiding over the event held at The Reef 28 hotel, the head of Municipal Tourism, Estefanía Hernández Flores, representing the mayor, underscored that these spaces allow for the consolidation of a collaboration network among key tourism players. "This is about joining efforts to enhance the image of Playa del Carmen, generate new opportunities, and strengthen the tourism industry with a sustainable and inclusive vision," she stated.

The official added that the event was held within the framework of World Tourism Day, observed on September 27, and is aimed at strengthening promotion strategies looking ahead to 2026.

Furthermore, she highlighted the work of the municipal mayor, who has defined the tourism development of Playa del Carmen as a priority through a comprehensive promotion strategy at fairs, conferences, and international showcases. Under her leadership, the municipality is not only promoting its hotel and sun-and-beach offerings but also products made in Playa del Carmen, thereby strengthening the local economy and cultural identity.

"Every fair, every meeting, and every work network is an opportunity to show the world the best of Playa del Carmen, its natural wealth, its hospitality, and the talent of our people," added the Secretary of Tourism, referring to the global positioning strategy.

On another point, she highlighted that nine months after the launch of the Playa del Carmen city brand, the advances in the international positioning of the destination under its own identity have moved beyond the generic denomination of Riviera Maya. "Today we represent more than 46 thousand hotel rooms and we are the destination with the most luxury hotels in the entire country. Playa del Carmen is much more than a name, it is a tourism powerhouse that the world must recognize," she affirmed.

During an encounter with representatives from the tourism sector, the official emphasized that business leaders are the economic engine of the city and that the creation of the brand seeks to strengthen the unity and global promotion of the destination.

The event included the participation of businessman Marc Pujol, as well as representatives from various organizations and associations linked to tourism, and Councilwoman Matilde Carrillo, among other local personalities.
