Playa del Carmen, MX — In an effort to gather firsthand citizen perception of the services administered by the government of Municipal President Estefanía Mercado, the Secretary of Planning and Evaluation has initiated a series of citizen surveys that will remain active until December 31.

The head of the department, Rolando Mario Méndez Navarro, explained that these tools will allow for the collection of clear, reliable, and valuable information on the quality of public services and basic infrastructure, with the goal of strengthening decision-making and guaranteeing more efficient management that is closer to the people.

“This series of surveys demonstrates the municipal government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Furthermore, they are grounded in the Law of Planning for the Development of the State of Quintana Roo, the Organic Regulations of the Public Administration of the Municipality of Playa del Carmen, and the Internal Regulations of the Planning Committee for the Development of the Municipality of Playa del Carmen,” the official stated.

In total, 17 types of specialized surveys will be applied, each focused on different areas of infrastructure and public services. These encompass topics such as wastewater treatment, roadways, public lighting, security, cultural spaces, education, health, and beach recovery.

Secretary Méndez Navarro specified that all information will be analyzed in a technical and georeferenced manner, which will allow for the determination of necessary improvements and the evaluation of the feasibility of expanding service coverage.

“Thanks to citizen participation, we will be able to improve in order to provide more efficient public services and carry out more precise, effective, and sustainable interventions, ensuring the current and future social well-being of the population of Playa del Carmen,” he concluded.
