Playa Firefighters Train Morelos Crew in Advanced Tactics

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — As part of a comprehensive security and prevention strategy spearheaded by Municipal President Estefanía Mercado, firefighters from Playa del Carmen’s Civil Protection Secretariat conducted specialized training for personnel from the municipality of José María Morelos. The initiative aimed to enhance coordination and operational capabilities by sharing advanced firefighting techniques.

Strengthening Inter-Municipal Collaboration

Darwin Covarrubias, Secretary of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighting, emphasized that these efforts reflect the Municipal Government’s commitment to professionalizing emergency response teams and fostering collaboration between municipalities. The goal is to ensure timely, efficient, and safe assistance for residents.

The training took place at Playa del Carmen’s fire station, utilizing a fire container designed to simulate real structural fires, with temperatures reaching up to 400 degrees Celsius. Key topics included hose handling, types of water streams, fire control, and proper high-risk emergency protocols.

Hands-On Instruction Led by Experts

Yivi Méndez, Director of Playa del Carmen’s Fire Department, led the session alongside specialized operational personnel who served as instructors. Eight firefighters from José María Morelos, under the direction of their chief, Germán Pineda, participated in the theoretical and practical training.

The exercise reinforced inter-municipal preparedness and coordination, highlighting the Playa del Carmen Fire Department’s leadership and professionalism. The Municipal Government reiterated its support for initiatives that strengthen community safety networks.
