PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. – As the high tourist season approaches, telephone, television, and cable internet companies will not obtain municipal permits if they do not improve their infrastructure in Playa del Carmen’s tourist zone, particularly along Fifth Avenue.

This was declared by fourth councilor Uri Carmona Islas, president of the Municipal Committee on Urban Development, who added that an inspection will be conducted to determine which companies have heeded this latest call.

It should be recalled that for several months, numerous observations have been made regarding the condition of infrastructure, such as wired networks, or in the case of the Federal Electricity Commission, installations that have caused several accidents involving vehicles and tourists.

Therefore, Carmona Islas noted that efforts have been concentrated on the city’s first quadrant, meaning the old town center that includes this Fifth Avenue.

“The agreement is that I will not grant you any permits until you comply with the Urban Improvement Program regulations,” he stated.

He insisted that an inspection along Fifth Avenue will be carried out to verify compliance with conditions and anticipated that they will not stop throughout the current administration to ensure all these companies respond to calls from citizens and the authorities themselves.
