Chetumal, Quintana Roo — An opossum caused alarm at Chetumal General Hospital on Tuesday after it was seen walking through several hallways before falling from the ceiling, nearly striking a patient in bed 211. No injuries were reported.
Medical staff and patients’ relatives reported that this is not the first time wildlife has entered the hospital, raising concerns about safety and hygiene in patient care areas.
The incident highlights maintenance and control deficiencies at the facility and the need for measures to prevent animal entry, protecting both patients and staff.
Hospital authorities have not yet issued an official statement on actions to prevent future incidents.
