Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist overturned after colliding with a pickup truck Monday afternoon in the El Pedregal neighborhood, authorities reported. The crash occurred when the motorcycle allegedly failed to stop at a mandatory stop sign at the intersection of Calle 10 and Avenida 70.
According to initial reports, the motorcycle emerged from Calle 10 and entered Avenida 70 without making the required stop. The pickup truck, which had the right of way, sustained an impact to its side. The three-wheeled motorcycle lost stability and flipped onto the roadway.
The motorcyclist suffered a head injury and received on-site evaluation from paramedics. No serious injuries were reported.
Municipal traffic authorities arrived to conduct the corresponding investigation and determine liability. Officials reported the motorcyclist lacked insurance, so both vehicles will be towed to an impound lot while legal and administrative matters are resolved.
The accident caused brief traffic congestion at the intersection as emergency personnel worked to clear the involved vehicles. El Pedregal is an area with high vehicle traffic and constant motorcycle circulation, which has led to various incidents at intersections without traffic lights. Authorities reiterated calls for drivers to respect traffic signals to prevent such incidents.
