Mexico City, Mexico — Clara Brugada, the Head of Government for Mexico City, stated this Thursday that the tenth edition of the Formula One Grand Prix will generate economic gains for the city exceeding 20 billion pesos.
"This tenth edition of the Mexican Grand Prix will break records in tourism, the economy, and employment. We anticipate an economic spillover that will reach 20 billion pesos, a hotel occupancy rate of almost 90 percent, and the generation of nearly 9,000 jobs just for these three days," affirmed Brugada.
The head of government for the Mexican capital was present at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, where a new round of the Formula 1 championship will take place this weekend, to inaugurate the Mexico City Pavilions. Spectators attending the competition will be able to enter these pavilions.
"This exhibition is a thematic space that shows the world what this city is. In it, we frame the 700 years since the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan; we take a tour of the traditional Day of the Dead and what this city is preparing for the 2026 World Cup," she stated.
Clara Brugada highlighted the global relevance that the Mexican capital will gain with the organization of the premier motorsport event, which she said is secured until 2028, and the organization of the World Cup next year.
"Mexico City is the capital of world-class sporting events. It is a champion because each international event is done well, and the participants and visitors leave happy with each visit," she emphasized.
The Head of Government stressed that the success of the Grand Prix will be supported by an extensive security program.
"We will have a very complete security apparatus that includes permanent actions for prevention, vigilance, and security. There will be 3,900 police officers and 400 official vehicles in operation. We want to project to the world all the good things we have," concluded Brugada.
