Cancún, Quintana Roo — A judge has sentenced a man to more than 54 years in prison for a 2022 shooting in Cancún that left one person dead and two others targeted, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Daniel Isaías Soriano received a double sentence for aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide following a September 2022 attack in the Alfredo V. Bonfil neighborhood. After evaluating evidence presented during the trial, the court imposed a total prison term exceeding 54 years.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred at a residence in Supermanzana 308, where three men and two women were present. Soriano arrived at the location in a white pickup truck with four armed accomplices, who opened fire on the group.

One of the men died later at a hospital, while the other two fled the scene on a motorcycle. Authorities said the motive appeared to be related to prior conflicts between Soriano and the victims.

For the aggravated homicide charge, Soriano was sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison, plus a fine exceeding 216,000 pesos and over 874,000 pesos in material damages.

For the attempted aggravated homicide charge, he received an additional 16 years and eight months, along with a fine of nearly 96,000 pesos for comprehensive damage reparations.
