Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man died early Wednesday after suddenly collapsing while dancing at a bar in this popular tourist destination, prompting a large emergency response and police investigation.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the “Ah Puch” bar on Primera Avenue, between 30th and 42nd Avenues in the Xaman Ha neighborhood, according to initial reports.
Witnesses who were with the victim said the Mexican national was dancing when he suddenly fainted and lost consciousness. Despite attempts by his companions to help him, he did not respond.
Security personnel at the nightclub intervened after noticing the situation and moved him outside the building, where he remained lying on the street while emergency medical services were called.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene performed an assessment but confirmed the man showed no vital signs. They suspect the cause of death was a sudden cardiac arrest.
Tourist Police officers cordoned off the area to secure the scene and allow for the start of investigative procedures. Authorities notified the State Prosecutor’s Office to begin an investigation and collect evidence.
The body, identified as a male approximately 30 years old, was transported by the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have not indicated whether the establishment will face any closures or administrative measures as investigations continue.
