Cancún man detained in child pornography network investigation

A man was linked to process for his alleged participation in a child pornography network

Cancún, Quintana Roo. – A Control Judge has ordered preventive detention for José Efraín “N” after linking him to process for his alleged participation in criminal acts related to human trafficking, specifically in the modality of child pornography, in the municipality of Cancún.

The State Attorney General’s Office reported that the judicial resolution is based on the analysis of evidence that establishes the possible responsibility of the accused in illicit activities linked to the possession and dissemination of child sexual exploitation material. The investigation originated from a complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office of Colonia, Central Service and Cybercrime Contact of North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany, which alerted about the circulation of files with illegal content on digital platforms.

The inquiries suggest that José Efraín “N” would have participated, between June and August 2020, in internet groups where he allegedly shared files and links, operating under various digital identities. Following his detention, a search was conducted at his residence where electronic devices and USB drives were seized.

Based on the collected elements, the Judge determined to impose preventive detention as a precautionary measure while the criminal process advances.
