Muyil, Quintana Roo — Authorities have confirmed that human skeletal remains discovered in the Muyil community belong to a man who disappeared in May 2023. The State Prosecutor’s Office announced the identification of David Alejandro R.Z., whose disappearance was reported nearly three years ago.
Forensic experts secured a national ID card and personal items at the scene that helped establish the victim’s identity. The search file for David Alejandro R.Z. has now been deactivated with a “Located” designation, indicating the person was found deceased.
The remains were discovered on January 13 when children playing in the area stumbled upon the skeletal remains. Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office found an INE identification card, a work credential with the initials D.A.R.Z., and work boots near the location. The items matched the description of the 43-year-old man reported missing.
Authorities conducted DNA testing to confirm the identity, with results coming more than a month after the discovery. The victim’s disappearance was officially reported to authorities on June 22, 2023, though he was last seen on May 21 of that year.
