Cancún — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced that a full investigation is underway into the company Casa Xibalbá, which offered pet cremation services in Chetumal but allegedly delivered dirt to clients instead of their pets' ashes. The governor pledged that the case will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.

During her program "La Voz del Pueblo," and in response to calls and requests from citizens, Governor Lezama explained that at least 53 complaints have been officially registered at this time. She encouraged more people to come forward and file reports, assuring that the full weight of the law will be applied to those responsible.

Ongoing Investigation into Multiple Offenses

Mara Lezama reported that the State Attorney General's Office and the Procuraduría de Protección al Ambiente (PPA), along with other authorities, are already investigating the case. The investigation aims to determine the whereabouts of the pets and to establish the various offenses committed, which could include fraud, violations of environmental laws, and any other charges that may arise.

Authorities are also investigating whether the aforementioned company had the proper permits or was operating clandestinely, as well as all other violations it may have incurred.

The governor condemned the act, emphasizing the harm done to the people who entrusted their pets to the service—the living beings they loved and wished to keep in their memory, and for which they were charged.

"We will apply the full weight of the law. This different government combats impunity, and the investigations will go as far as they need to go. This case, which has caused so much harm to society, will not go unpunished," explained Governor Mara Lezama.

Other Program Announcements

Elsewhere in the program, Mara Lezama highlighted President Claudia Sheinbaum's book, "Diario de una Transición Histórica" ("Diary of a Historic Transition"), and invited the public to read it if they have the opportunity.

"I was with the President of Mexico; we are consolidating shared solidarity. We women are living through historic moments," she stated.

In addition to responding to messages from the public, which is the essence of "La Voz del Pueblo," Governor Mara Lezama congratulated the legislators of Quintana Roo on the occasion of the recent commemoration of Legislator's Day on the 28th.

In the same program, she announced that, as a result of multiple efforts, 21 Child Education and Care Attention Centers for working mothers have been authorized. This new daycare model, operated by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), will be located near workplaces or Bienestar housing units.

Throughout the program, the Governor highlighted a summary of activities conducted during the week, including a public audience in Huay-Pix, a community in Othón P. Blanco, and the selection of artisan garments made by embroiderers from Xpichil that were featured at the Vogue Gala.
