Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Emergency services and ministerial authorities mobilized in the town of Huay-Pix following a citizen report about a human body in the waters of the community’s lagoon. The alert was received by authorities around 09:15 hours, activating corresponding response and verification protocols in the area.
According to initial information gathered at the scene, residents traveling at the end of Jesús Martínez Ross Street detected a body floating a few meters from the shore, prompting them to immediately alert emergency services. The discovery reportedly occurred around 08:30 hours, when the body was located approximately four meters from the edge of the lagoon, allowing for visual identification from land.
The person was preliminarily identified as a man approximately 74 years old, wearing jeans and a green shirt. Due to terrain conditions and water depth at the location where the body was found, immediate recovery was not possible, requiring specialized support from the Fire Department.
Elements of this department arrived at the site and performed necessary maneuvers to secure the body in the water, subsequently transporting it to the town’s main dock. During these operations, the area was cordoned off to facilitate rescue work and prevent interference from onlookers.
At the dock, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office and forensic experts from the Forensic Services Department were already present, conducting the initial inspection. According to the preliminary examination, the body showed no visible injuries or signs of violence, leading authorities to establish probable cause of death as asphyxiation by submersion.
