Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — A dismembered body, stuffed inside plastic garbage bags, was discovered Saturday evening in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres. Authorities responded to an anonymous tip around 7 p.m. reporting the presence of human remains in black bags along Químico Pastrana Avenue, a roadway connecting the Continental Zone to the Villas del Mar subdivision.
Gruesome Discovery
Municipal police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the remains were those of a dismembered individual. Preliminary reports indicate the victim's body parts were separated into multiple bags—one containing the head, another the torso, and a third holding the arms and legs.
The victim's identity remains unknown, and the body has been transported to the Forensic Medical Service for further examination. No additional details regarding possible suspects or motives have been released.
Rising Concerns
This incident follows a pattern of violent discoveries in the region, including a recent case in Tulum where another body was found similarly discarded in plastic bags. Authorities have yet to determine if the cases are connected.
Investigations are ongoing, with local law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward.
