Cancún, Quintana Roo — A vendor at Cancún’s largest open-air market is openly selling a baby crocodile alongside other exotic animals, with authorities failing to intervene despite regular patrols through the area.

The merchant at the “Tianguis de la 100” market keeps the small crocodile in an aquarium among rabbits, fish, and other animals, offering it for 1,500 pesos (approximately $75).

National Guard troops and municipal police officers regularly patrol this market, the largest in Cancún, yet none have taken action against the sale of the reptile.

In Mexico, possession and trade of wild species, including crocodiles, is prohibited by law.
