Couple arrested in Cancún femicide case after remains found

Police investigation scene in Cancún's Supermanzana 95 where human remains were found

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The State Attorney General’s Office announced the capture of Tayra Alejandra N and Brayan Imanol N, who are accused of probable involvement in the crime of femicide. This arrest stems from investigations conducted after the discovery of human remains in a public area on December 12.

According to the social representation’s inquiries, the victim, whose identity remains confidential, was last seen on December 10. Based on testimonies from her family members, she was heading to the residence of Tayra Alejandra N, located in Supermanzana 95.

Investigations indicate that an argument and subsequent fight occurred at that location between the victim and the younger sister of the now-detained woman.

During the altercation, it is presumed that Tayra Alejandra N intervened in defense of her sister, using a sharp object to cause wounds to the victim’s neck and subsequently striking her in the head with a blunt object, resulting in her death.

Reports indicate that after the death, both she and Brayan Imanol N allegedly dismembered the body to place it in black bags and blankets, abandoning the remains in front of a residence in the area.

Thanks to intelligence work, the Attorney General’s Office obtained the necessary arrest warrants to capture the alleged perpetrators.

Both detainees are now at the disposal of a Control Judge, who will determine their legal status within the timeframes established by law.
