Tulum Cartel Raid: Arsenal and Armored Cars Seized

Tulum, Mexico — A coordinated operation between authorities from all three levels of government and the Armed Forces dealt a severe blow to the operations of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in this municipality, seizing an arsenal and nine vehicles, including an armored one, allegedly used in criminal activities.

The intervention took place in the locality of Nuevo Durango and resulted in the confiscation of military-grade material and automobiles, which expose the violent capacity of this criminal organization in the region.

Among the seized items are an AK-47 rifle, six loaded magazines, 52 rounds of ammunition, two offensive fragmentation grenades (one for the exclusive use of the United States Army), a communication radio, and 115 bags of marijuana.

Furthermore, nine vehicles were confiscated, including a black armored Limited Sub truck and a Toyota Hilux without license plates, used for drug and weapons trafficking, as well as high-impact crimes such as express kidnappings and territorial control patrols.

The Vice Prosecutor of the southern zone, Aroshi de los Ángeles Lugo Arana, reported that two of the vehicles were located on a ranch in the community of Nuevo Durango. A key finding was a sheet of notebook paper found in a Kia Soul, inscribed with "Tulum CJNG" and annotations that confirm the cartel's presence in the area.

The State Attorney General's Office emphasized that this seizure weakens the logistical structure of this criminal organization in Tulum, a municipality strategic for its tourist activity.
