Cancún’s cultural scene thrives with ‘Lux: Ecos del Fuego’

Performers from Cancún's Municipal Choir, Theater, and Folkloric Ballet companies on stage during 'Lux: Ecos del Fuego'

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A packed City Theater witnessed the successful premiere of “Lux: Ecos del Fuego,” a multidisciplinary stage production presented by the Benito Juárez Municipality through its Institute of Culture and Arts.

The performance on Friday night featured the Municipal Choir, Theater, and Folkloric Ballet companies. They combined their talents around a story created by award-winning set and lighting designer Félix Arroyo, offering a unique experience where music, movement, and acting fused to give voice and meaning to light as the sole protagonist.

Carlos López Jiménez, head of the Benito Juárez Institute of Culture and Arts, said the production was created by Arroyo in collaboration with Saúl Enríquez on dramaturgy and direction, achieving a deep connection with the audience.

He added that art transforms, unites, heals, and fosters a sense of belonging. In 2026, declared the Year of Identity and Culture, the institute will continue working to make art felt in every corner of the city.

López Jiménez invited the public to follow the institute’s social media for schedules and details on free performances, noting tickets are typically distributed two hours before each show.
