Cancún, Quintana Roo — To prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes during the current rainy season and protect the health of Cancún families, Mayor Ana Paty Peralta, accompanied by the municipal secretary, Pablo Gutiérrez, led a cleanup and fumigation campaign in the Lombardo Toledano, Donceles 28, and Puerto Juárez neighborhoods, as well as in Supermanzana 68.
During her tour of the various zones, the mayor emphasized the importance of active public participation in keeping the streets clean and encouraged residents to follow recommendations to prevent the spread of mosquitoes.
"Open your doors and windows when the fumigation trucks pass by; the product is not harmful to children and pets. It is also very important to wash, cover, turn over, and throw out all containers that hold any type of liquid," she stated.
Personnel from the General Directorate of Public Services collected materials such as appliances, furniture, containers, plastic toys, tires, mattresses, and other disused items, preventing them from being dumped in the street and thereby eradicating the formation of sources of infection and stagnant water.
Following the cleanup, collaborators from the State Health Services (Sesa), supported by four vehicles, carried out nebulization tasks, covering 260 hectares.
