Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Cancún Half Marathon, one of the most anticipated athletic events of the year, is set to take place this Sunday, April 27, 2025. Hundreds of runners will gather to test their physical limits in the competition, prompting local authorities to implement temporary road closures to ensure a smooth event.

Road Closures for the Cancún Half Marathon

To minimize disruptions, the local government has announced partial and full closures along several major avenues. Affected roadways include:

  • Boulevard Kukulcán
  • Avenida Bonampak
  • Avenida Nader
  • Avenida Tulum

Authorities have also established alternate routes to facilitate traffic flow during the event.

Alternate Traffic Solutions

One lane along Boulevard Kukulcán, on the ocean side, will be closed up to kilometer 6.5. To mitigate congestion, a reversible lane will be activated on the lagoon side, allowing two-way traffic.

At kilometer zero of Boulevard Kukulcán, drivers will merge into the reversible lane. Traffic officers will be stationed along the route to assist with navigation.

Additionally, a controlled access point will be set up at Avenida Uxmal to ensure orderly entry and exit from Cancún’s port area.

The measures aim to balance the needs of marathon participants and local commuters while maintaining safe and efficient transportation throughout the event.
