Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A Canadian tourist died after collapsing at a Walmart store in this popular resort city, with emergency responders unable to revive him.

The incident occurred inside the Walmart plaza located on 30th Avenue and 25th Street, behind the municipal palace in the city center. Witnesses reported the tourist was walking through the store when he appeared to feel unwell and asked security personnel for help.

According to witnesses, the man collapsed to the floor within minutes in front of customers and employees who were shopping as on any normal weekday. It remains unclear whether store staff provided any first aid.

Bystanders immediately reported the incident to municipal authorities through the 911 emergency line, describing the collapse of a foreign national.

Officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat and paramedics from the Civil Protection Department arrived shortly after and attempted to provide first aid to the victim. However, the man showed no vital signs.

The tourist is believed to have suffered a possible sudden heart attack, though authorities have not released an official cause of death.
