PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico — A brawl reported by residents of the Villas del Sol subdivision resulted in the detention of three individuals. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in a parking lot located on Avenida Sur, between Loros and Pavo Real streets, within the private Zorzal Rojizo area.

According to witnesses, the involved parties began to argue, and the situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation. Alarmed by the commotion, residents notified emergency services at 911, which mobilized several units of the Municipal Police to the area.

Upon arrival, officers found three agitated individuals, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, who were still struggling with each other. Given the evident brawl, they were immediately apprehended and transported in a police unit.

The detainees will spend the Independence Day celebrations in custody, as they are initially subject to an administrative arrest of up to 72 hours. However, authorities warned that if any of the parties decides to take legal action, the situation could escalate to a formal investigation for injuries or public disturbances.

The subdivision was secured while order was restored. Neighbors indicated that this type of fight is not the first to occur in the area, which has generated constant reports of insecurity.

The three arrested individuals are now in the custody of the Playa del Carmen Directorate of Public Security. They are expected to be released after serving their administrative arrest, unless corresponding complaints change the course of the case.

Authorities reiterated their call for citizens to avoid brawls in public spaces, especially during the Independence Day celebrations, where security operations remain active.
