Three Children Rescued in Playa del Carmen Domestic Violence Case

Two adults detained by authorities in Playa del Carmen domestic violence case

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — An alleged domestic violence situation was reported in Playa del Carmen, prompting the intervention of security forces and resulting in the detention of two individuals. The incident occurred after a citizen report alerted authorities to assaults inside a residence located in a neighborhood on Avenida 28 de Julio, at the intersection with Avenida Yaxchén.

According to information from authorities, the incident was reported through the 911 emergency number, where neighbors indicated that screams and an argument could be heard inside a home, which allegedly escalated to a physical confrontation.

Upon receiving the alert, Municipal Police officers went to the location to verify the situation and activate the corresponding protocols.

Upon arriving at the residence, the agents located the individuals involved and, after an initial assessment of the facts and collection of testimonies, a possible case of domestic violence was reportedly confirmed.

As a preventive measure and in accordance with established guidelines, two adults were detained as alleged perpetrators, pending clarification of the circumstances in which the events occurred.

Simultaneously, the intervention of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) of Playa del Carmen was requested, whose members entered the property to provide comprehensive care.

As part of priority actions, three minors who were in the residence were safeguarded preventively, as they were considered to be in a risk environment, applying child protection and welfare protocols.

The authorities reported that the possible victims received immediate attention and guidance to file the corresponding complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office, the entity that will provide legal follow-up to the case.

The detained adults were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where their legal status will be determined as the investigation progresses and the collected evidence is analyzed.
