A man was discovered dead in the early hours of Tuesday in the holding cells of the Solidaridad Police in Playa del Carmen. He had been detained the previous day in the Colosio neighborhood for attempting suicide by jumping off a rooftop. The Civic Judge had placed him in custody.

What initially seemed like a standard custody case took a tragic turn. The man was found lifeless by officers of the Preventive Municipal Police at around 12:30 in the morning.

Red Cross paramedics were called to the scene. Despite their efforts, they confirmed that the man showed no signs of life.

Upon this discovery, the State Attorney General's Office took over the case. The man's body was then transported by a unit from the 2 Norte Internacional Funeral Home.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death. They are also awaiting official confirmation of his identity.
