The inaugural 'Bola' Cheese Festival is set to take place in Valladolid on the 28th and 29th of this month. A preview of the festival was given at a press conference held at the “El Sazón de Valladolid” restaurant. The event was organized by Carlos Guillermo Aguirre Aguilar, president of the Association of Restaurants and Gastronomic Services of Valladolid (Reserva).
Previously, we reported that Reserva and the Association of Restaurants of Valladolid Yucatan (Arvay) will be hosting exhibitions on the 28th and 29th of this month, and from the 4th to the 6th of October, in Candelaria Park. The festival is a franchise held by Dalmar Deur Briceño, who originally launched the event five years ago in his hometown of Chetumal, Quintana Roo.
Since its inception, the festival has been hosted in Mérida, Campeche, and Cancún. This year, Valladolid was chosen as the host city due to its rich culinary tradition. The festival's fifth anniversary and Valladolid's first will be celebrated, setting a precedent for the festival to be held annually on the same dates.
Aguirre Aguilar noted that 23 exhibitors will participate in the festival, offering a wide variety of products and dishes. The aim is to ensure diversity, with each stand offering something unique at reasonable prices. Guests at the press conference were treated to a tasting of empanadas made with chaya and 'bola' cheese, giving a hint of what the festival will offer.
Noé Rivero Sánchez, Director of Economic Development of the Municipality, expressed his support for the festival. He emphasized that as long as the event brings economic benefits for the exhibitors, the City Council will continue to support it. Manuel Navarrete Correa, president of the Canaco delegation, also attended the conference. He stated that the festival will be a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to enjoy Valladolid's gastronomy, particularly dishes made with 'bola' cheese.
