Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa led a ceremony to commemorate the 177th anniversary of the heroic act of the Niños Héroes of Chapultepec. The event was part of the September activities, dedicated to celebrating the Homeland.

Addressing students from Benito Juárez schools, Governor Lezama emphasized the importance of understanding one's history to navigate the future.

She also acknowledged the armed forces for their contribution to the growth of Quintana Roo and the country. She praised their unity with the people during hydrometeorological events and their role in peacebuilding.

Lezama appealed to the youth to contribute to strengthening the social fabric. She encouraged them to avoid harmful behaviors, substance abuse, alcohol, and gambling. She stated, "Building peace is alleviating pain, following the example of the Niños Héroes, embracing those values."

During the ceremony, she recognized the military personnel's efforts in hoisting the monumental flag.

Lezama declared, "In this beautiful event, the New Era of Transformation has arrived, a new way of governing, in which we break the protocols imposed by men and I am the first woman governor."

The ceremony also included a message from Brigadier General Fidel Mondragón Rivero, commander of the 34th Military Zone, who passed the Honor Roll to the Niños Héroes.

Other notable attendees were Admiral Abraham Eloy Caballero Rosas, commander of the 9th Naval Region; the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña; deputy Eric Arcila Arjona, representing the State Congress, and the president of the Superior Court of Justice, magistrate Heyden Cebada Rivas.
