The Municipal President of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo, was present at the reopening of the newly renovated Equine Therapy Center. He was joined by the President of the DIF-State, Verónica Lezama, and the future First Lady of the DIF-Tulum, Paulina Quiroga de Castañón. The center is a space dedicated to the motor development of children and families.
Paulina Quiroga de Castañón, who welcomed the attendees, emphasized that the center symbolizes a government that is inclusive, supportive, and fair. She highlighted its commitment to social justice and welfare for all.
She explained that equine therapy is a prime example of how natural resources and innovative techniques can be used to enhance the quality of life for children. The therapy utilizes the rhythmic three-dimensional movement of horses to foster physical, emotional, and cognitive skills. The horses become a therapeutic team, beneficial for children with disabilities by improving their balance, coordination, and muscle strength, as well as promoting social skills. She reiterated the commitment to expand the project so that more children can benefit.
Verónica Lezama Espinosa, the State President of DIF-Quintana Roo, acknowledged the strong commitment of Diego and Paulina to the children of Tulum. She praised their efforts in transforming realities and building a future full of wellbeing for the community's children, teenagers, and their families.
Diego Castañón, the Municipal President, highlighted that this is the first municipal DIF space in the state equipped with its own area for equine therapy. The center is staffed by highly trained professionals who provide personalized care to children, teenagers, and older adults. Currently, the center offers 123 weekly therapies benefiting 70 patients with different motor stimulation needs. He concluded by expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project, and pledged to continue generating such commitments to deliver more results.
