Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A motorcycle was consumed by fire in the early hours of Saturday in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood, in an incident that, according to accounts from neighbors, could be an act of revenge for sentimental reasons.

The incident occurred on 48th Street, between 45th and 40th Avenues, where an individual—reportedly upset with his former partner—allegedly threw an incendiary device at the unit, which was parked in front of the woman's home. Following the blast, flames quickly engulfed the motorcycle, while the responsible party fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

Neighbors alerted emergency services by calling 911, prompting elements of the Secretary of Citizen Security to respond immediately. They managed to extinguish the fire using extinguishers, preventing it from spreading to other properties.

Minutes later, personnel from the Fire Department arrived at the site and confirmed that the motorcycle was completely charred. No injuries were reported.

Authorities are maintaining an open investigation to determine the exact causes of the fire and to assign responsibility.
