Cancún, Mexico — A man identified as Roger, 53, originally from Quintana Roo, has been detained in Conroe County, Texas, accused of violating personal privacy, domestic violence, and extortion against his former partner.
According to the Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo (FGE), the arrest was achieved through a joint operation between the state Attorney General's Office, the Mexican federal Attorney General's Office (FGR), Interpol Mexico, and United States immigration authorities.
The Extortion Scheme
Investigations indicate the events occurred in Chetumal. The victim reported that Roger disseminated intimate videos recorded during their romantic relationship. Subsequently, when she filed a claim for alimony, he pressured her to drop the case. When she refused, he began to harass her using fake social media accounts and messages from different telephone numbers.
He even shared a sexual video with the victim's close contacts with the intention of exposing and humiliating her.
Flight from Justice
It is noteworthy that Roger had previously been formally charged and placed under pre-trial measures requiring him to sign in periodically with a judge. However, he stopped appearing before the court, leading to an additional charge of evading justice. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued, along with a migration alert and an Interpol Red Notice.
The suspect was deported from the United States and handed over to authorities in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. There, he was taken into custody by the Quintana Roo State Investigative Police for transfer back to the state.
Current Legal Status
A control judge has now formally charged Roger and imposed a justified pre-trial detention order for two years while investigations against him continue.
