Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Mayor Estefanía Mercado led the Commemorative Parade for the 215th Anniversary of the beginning of Mexico's Independence this Tuesday. The event brought together thousands of families in the heart of Playa del Carmen in an atmosphere of pride, tradition, and national unity.

From early in the morning, residents and visitors gathered in the esplanade of Plaza 28 de Julio to witness the procession of more than six thousand military and naval personnel, police forces, students, emergency brigades, and municipal agencies, who marched in honor of the heroes who gave freedom to the nation.

Accompanied by civil and military authorities, the mayor reaffirmed the importance of keeping civic traditions alive to strengthen Mexican identity and social cohesion in Playa del Carmen.

“Today we remember those who gave us a homeland and freedom, but we also reaffirm our commitment to building a prosperous, safe, and united municipality where families can live with pride and hope,” she emphasized.

The parade began at 7:30 a.m. on 34th Street and concluded just after 9:00 a.m. at Plaza 28 de Julio, receiving applause and recognition from hundreds of local families and national and international visitors who witnessed the civic act.

In an informational report, the Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security, Carlos Montesinos, detailed that a total of 6,083 people participated in the parade, distributed across 46 contingents.
