Tulum, Quintana Roo — The 2025 Lobster Festival in Punta Allen, one of the region’s most significant annual events, will take place from August 15 to 17, offering free cultural, gastronomic, and recreational activities for residents and tourists alike. Organized by the Tulum municipal government, the festival highlights the hospitality, culinary traditions, and natural beauty of the area.

A Celebration of Culture and Tradition

The three-day event will showcase the cultural richness of Tulum while providing opportunities to purchase local handicrafts and products. Attendees can immerse themselves in the traditions of Punta Allen, a community renowned for its sustainable fishing practices and coastal charm.

Detailed Schedule of Events

Friday, August 15

All activities will be held on Tulum Avenue in front of the Municipal Palace.

  • 4:00 p.m.: Opening of gastronomic stands.
  • 4:30 p.m.: Presentation of the book BONANZA by Adriana Citlali Borges Pereira.
  • 5:10 p.m.: Discussion on sustainable fishing with the Vigía Chico Cooperative and Amigos de Sian Ka’an.
  • 6:00 p.m.: Folkloric dance performances.
  • 6:40 p.m.: Mayan ceremony.
  • 7:00 p.m.: Official inauguration with ribbon-cutting.
  • 7:10 p.m.: Tour of stands by authorities.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Lobster culinary exhibition and competition.
  • 8:30 p.m.: Award ceremony for the winning dish.

Saturday, August 16

All activities will take place in Punta Allen.

  • 3:00 p.m.: Welcome and opening remarks.
  • 3:30 p.m.: Sustainable fishing talk and guided tour of the photo exhibition Monitores del Arrecife Mesoamericano.
  • 4:00 p.m.: Culinary competition and stand tours.
  • 6:00 p.m.: Children’s recycled costume contest.
  • 6:30 p.m.: Closing ceremony and awards.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Boxing match: Punta Allen vs. Tulum.
  • 10:00 p.m.: Community dance featuring the group COCOSON.

Sunday, August 17

  • 6:30 a.m.: Start of the cycling event, departing from the Sian Ka’an Arch.
  • 8:00 a.m.: Cyclists arrive at Central Park.
  • 10:00 a.m.: Soccer and volleyball tournaments: Tulum vs. Punta Allen in Punta Allen.

The festival aims to strengthen community ties while attracting visitors to experience the unique heritage of Tulum and its coastal surroundings.
