Tulum, Quintana Roo — During the early hours of Thursday, August 14, the body of a man wrapped in sheets and placed inside a black plastic bag was discovered in front of a residence in the Ejido neighborhood. The grim finding occurred on Venado Street, between Sian Ka’an and Chanchén.

Discovery and Initial Response

According to preliminary reports, the victim—presumed to be male—was found concealed in sheets and plastic bags. Local residents alerted emergency services by dialing 911, prompting an immediate police response.

Unverified accounts suggest the house where the body was left had previously been targeted in an armed attack years earlier, though authorities have not officially confirmed this detail.

Investigation Underway

Municipal police officers, forensic experts, and ministerial personnel secured the scene, gathering evidence before transporting the remains to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for an autopsy.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has opened an investigation into the homicide. As of now, no details regarding the victim’s identity or the circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.

Rising Security Concerns

This discovery adds to a series of violent incidents reported in Tulum in recent months, heightening residents’ concerns over safety. Authorities remain tight-lipped as the investigation continues.

Security forces have urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid the case and announced plans to intensify patrols across the municipality.
