Cancún, Mexico — Armed assailants opened fire on a bar located on Niños Héroes Avenue in Supermanzana 228 of Cancún, marking the third such attack on the establishment this year. The incident disrupted the relative calm of the area, prompting nearby residents to alert authorities via emergency services.
Police Respond to Shooting
Upon receiving the 911 call, the nearest police units from the Cancún Municipal Police were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Calle 79. Officers arriving at the location, identified as Emporio’s, found multiple spent shell casings—at least ten—scattered across the area. Witnesses reported that both staff and patrons fled the premises in panic following the gunfire.
Repeated Violence Against the Bar
This is the third armed attack on the bar in recent months. In March, the establishment was similarly targeted in a shooting, followed weeks later by another assault that included the arson of a vehicle parked outside. Authorities had previously seized the property, but it was returned to its owners approximately two weeks ago. Due to this latest incident, the bar is expected to be secured by officials once again.
Search for Suspects
Municipal Police and Mexican Navy (Semar) personnel conducted search operations in the vicinity for the perpetrators, who reportedly fled on a motorcycle. As of now, no arrests have been made.
Investigation Underway
The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGEQROO) has been notified to process the crime scene and initiate an official investigation. Authorities have cordoned off the area as forensic work continues..
The situation remains under investigation as authorities work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the latest attack.
