The Quintana Roo government, through the Directorate of Liaison with Social Organizations of the Ministry of Government, is advocating for respect and tolerance for religious freedom. This is part of the Solidaridad Agreement for the Promotion of Respect and Tolerance for Religious Freedom. To this end, a series of training sessions have been conducted for public officials from various departments, as well as for members of the Network of Municipal Officials of Religious Affairs of the State of Quintana Roo.

These training sessions are part of an effort to professionalize public servants dealing with religious matters in the municipalities. They are conducted under the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, an initiative led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. The agreement aims to rebuild the social fabric and contribute to peace-building in the state.

The Second Inter-Institutional Meeting of Municipal Officials of Religious Affairs of the State of Quintana Roo was held in Tulum, marking the beginning of these training sessions. The meeting provided a platform for representatives of different religions to share their experiences and actions.

Training sessions titled "Religious Freedom: Foundations and Applications in Public Administration" were held in Isla Mujeres and Playa del Carmen. Meanwhile, in Benito Juarez, a training session on "Religious Freedom and Secular State" was conducted. Each session aimed to educate municipal public servants on religious freedom, promoting respect and tolerance across the state.

The Solidaridad Agreement for the Promotion of Respect and Tolerance for Religious Freedom was signed in February 2024. The agreement ensures that all individuals have the freedom to act according to their beliefs, in both public and private life, without facing discrimination.

Quintana Roo, under the leadership of Governor Mara Lezama, is the first in the country to promote such initiatives. These efforts aim to rebuild the social fabric, contribute to peace-building, and combat religious discrimination.

Among the authorities present at the inauguration of the trainings were the Mayor of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde; the director of Liaison with Social Organizations of the Secretariat of Government, Pedro Daniel Quijada Ramirez; and the director of National Consciousness for Religious Freedom, Cristian David Badillo Gutierrez. Gutierrez, with his extensive experience in the field, led the training sessions.
