In Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mayor Ana Paty Peralta recently spearheaded the fourth land and water cleanup of Malecón Tajamar this year. The event saw over 700 volunteers, including public officials and the general public, participate in the conservation of one of the city's most iconic locations.

Mayor Peralta, accompanied by various members of her cabinet, initiated the cleanup at this natural site that is cherished by the people of Cancún. She led by example, joining the land cleanup brigades in their efforts to preserve the natural ecosystems. The cleanup also included volunteers from the "Canoas con causa" association, who helped clean the mangrove along a 5-kilometer stretch of the lagoon.

With the stunning Nichupté lagoon as a backdrop, Mayor Peralta encouraged the participants to set an example in their communities. She emphasized the power of collective action in bringing about positive change, and the importance of preserving Cancún's environment and natural beauty, which significantly contributes to its tourism success.

Tania Fernández Moreno, the head of Ecology, praised all the participants and sponsors for their contributions. She stressed that such events aim to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the planet and keeping Cancún clean for both residents and tourists.

During the cleanup, the volunteers, divided into different brigades, covered the perimeter of the natural area. Their main task was to remove solid waste, including PET bottles, glass bottles, cans, plastic wrappers, cigarette butts, tubes, tires, styrofoam cups and plates, and bottle caps, among other materials.
