Playa del Carmen, Mexico — More than 20,000 locals and tourists gathered at Plaza 28 de Julio on Friday night for the electrifying performances by Dominican singer Tokischa and Mexican influencer Wendy Guevara as part of Pride Playa del Carmen 2025.
Members of the LGBTTTIQA+ community and the general public, predominantly young attendees, experienced an unforgettable evening. The event underscored the municipal government’s commitment to inclusion, respect for human rights, and the fight against all forms of discrimination. The city’s mayor has emphasized that Pride is not merely a celebration but a reaffirmation of free love, human dignity, and the right to live proudly and happily.
A Night of Celebration and Advocacy
The evening began with Wendy Guevara captivating the crowd with her charisma and a clear message: "Love is love!" Shortly after, Tokischa took the stage, energizing the audience with hits such as Linda, Delincuente, Estilazo, Chulo, Kilos de amor, Hola, and Sistema de patio, leaving the crowd in a state of euphoria.
During the event, authorities and advocacy groups announced the official call for the 2025 LGBTTTIQA+ Diversity March, scheduled for June 28 in observance of International Pride Day.
Gabriel Pérez Álvarez, Director of Sexual Diversity, confirmed that free same-sex weddings will be offered throughout Pride Month. He also reminded attendees that gender identity changes are a year-round right in Playa del Carmen.
Organizers Juan Zavala and Madame Scandall encouraged participants to join the festivities with joy, peace, and pride. The event further solidified Playa del Carmen’s reputation as a city of respect, freedom, and inclusion, where love is celebrated without labels.
